Let’s SHARE!

A fully-funded professional development training program.

“This was a well-organized and informative training that has altered the way I think about delivering comprehensive, inclusive sex education for youth. I am so glad I applied and took advantage of this insightful program. I hope to stay connected with the research they are continuing to do and look forward to learning more in the future. Thank you!”

OVERVIEW

SHARE stands for Sexual Health and Reproductive Empowerment - as well as the open sharing of information.

Hosted by Teachers College, Columbia University, the Sex Education Initiative (SEI) is a fully-funded research-based program offering training to professionals in topics related to sexual & reproductive health education (SRHE). SEI’s unique programming is informed by a Reproductive Justice lens and advances the field’s understanding of:

  • Reproductive Life Planning (RLP) - if/when/how fertility decision-making paradigm

  • Reproductive Identity Formation (RIF) - identity-centered, lifespan, developmental model

The SEI three-part model:

  1. advances your knowledge with cutting edge SRHE content

  2. explores your SRHE-related values and biases,

  3. helps you translate and adapt these concepts to your unique learning environment and population.

The SEI SHARE (Sexual Health and Reproductive Empowerment) Program is:

  • Open to all Health Education teachers and Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) educators.

  • Open to members of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).

  • Online with synchronous and asynchronous modules available to those living anywhere in the United States.

  • Geared towards busy professionals with a 5-week program that is self-paced.

  • Prepares you to implement in the field with customizable take-home resources (lesson plans, assessment tools).
